Tether (USDT) is a stablecoin that aims to retain a 1:1 peg with the U.S. dollar. Founded in 2014, it has grown into one of the largest stablecoins by market capitalization. Tether claims to be backed 100% by reserves that include fiat currency and cash equivalents.
Gemini supports the ERC-20 version of Tether (USDT). USDT can also be transferred across Bitcoin's Omni layer, EOS, and Tron. Gemini does not support or guarantee USDT’s 1:1 peg to the U.S. dollar.
