Offsetting our carbon footprint
We’ve offset 341,965 metric tons of carbon emissions to date - roughly equivalent to the combined annual electricity consumption of over 57,000 U.S. households1. We’ve also led the crypto industry in developing a methodology for calculating blockchain-based carbon emissions.
Facilitating a carbon market
Individual and institutional investors can buy carbon credits directly on Gemini with MCO2, a carbon credit token that protects the Amazon rainforest. MCO2 tokens are sourced from environmental projects certified by the widely-recognized Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and tokenized using the ERC-20 standard.
