Where is Gemini Stocks available?
Gemini Stocks is currently live for U.S. residents except those in Alabama, Arkansas, Guam, Illinois, Massachusetts, Puerto Rico, Texas, and Washington, D.C.. We plan to roll out in these states in the weeks ahead.
When will Gemini Stocks be available in my state?
We’re expanding state by state following our launch. Sign up for a Gemini account, and we’ll let you know the moment stock trading reaches your state.
What stocks can I trade on Gemini?
You can trade exchange-listed stocks or ETFs, including securities listed on NYSE, Nasdaq, and regional exchanges.
What are the fees for trading stocks on Gemini?
Trading stocks and ETFs on Gemini is commission-free. There are no commissions on buys or sells. Standard regulatory fees may apply on certain sell transactions and will always be disclosed before you confirm a trade.
What hours can I trade?
At launch, you can trade stocks and ETFs on Gemini during standard market hours (9:30 AM – 4:00 PM US Eastern Time, Monday through Friday).
Are my stocks insured?
Stocks and ETFs held through Gemini are protected by SIPC insurance up to $500,000 (including a $250,000 limit for cash) through our clearing broker. SIPC protects against the failure of a brokerage firm. It does not protect against market losses or declines in the value of your investments.
Can I transfer stocks I already own into Gemini?
Stock transfers into Gemini are not supported at launch. We’re working on adding this. Sign up to be notified when transfers become available.
How are stocks different from crypto on Gemini?
Stocks and ETFs are traditional securities, traded during U.S. market hours and regulated by the SEC, FINRA, and state agencies. Crypto trades 24/7 on Gemini’s own exchange. Both live on the same Gemini platform, so you can move between them without switching apps.
Will I get tax documents for my stock trades?
Yes. You’ll receive a consolidated 1099 tax form each year covering your stock and ETF activity, including dividends, sale proceeds, and cost basis information. Tax documents are typically available by the end of February for the prior tax year.
Who handles custody and clearing for Gemini Stocks?
Apex Clearing Corporation acts as the custodian and clearing broker for Gemini Stocks. Nasdaq is the official provider of real-time displayed market data. Gemini operates as an introducing broker under its FINRA registration.
Is Gemini Stocks available outside the U.S.?
No. Gemini Stocks is only available to eligible U.S. residents in states where the service has launched.
