Gemini Launches Solana Staking From Gemini Custody

Gemini is pleased to announce that we have launched Solana Staking from Gemini Custody services for ETFs, corporations, and high-net-worth individuals.

Customers who opt in to Gemini’s Solana Staking from Gemini Custody will be able to earn a staking yield on the Solana network while leveraging the security of segregated, cold storage wallets in Gemini Custody. In addition, customers will be able to choose their own validator or use Gemini’s own validator, providing freedom of choice that is unique among custody staking options available today.

This product expands Gemini’s offering to provide staking yield via the Solana ecosystem. Staking is central to proof-of-stake (POS) consensus mechanisms. Customers pledge crypto to securely validate transactions on a blockchain network. Once validated, users who have staked their crypto receive tokens as a reward.

SOL Staking from Custody Tailored for Institutional Clients

Gemini has teamed up with two institutional client segments: ETFs and corporate treasury companies for Solana Staking from Gemini Custody, with others set to join soon. ETFs

Canada’s Purpose Investments Inc., a leading digital assets ETF provider with $24 billion CAD in total AUM, is using a Solana Staking solution provided by Purpose Unlimited and built on the Gemini Custody platform for its Launched in April 2025, the SOLL ETF offers physical exposure to Solana while Solana staking rewards accrue directly into the fund. It trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol SOLL.

2025 has been the year of the crypto treasury strategy company, with dozens of companies allocating into Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana. Solana treasury company DeFi Development Corp. (NASDAQ: DFDV) has chosen to partner with Gemini as it continues to accumulate more SOL in the future and subsequently stake those holdings. The company recently raised a $5 billion line of credit for its Solana treasury strategy.
