Gemini and
24/7 Launch PIR Program Online for WCB Premium Refunds
Calgary, Alberta, Canada - Gemini
Performance Solutions Inc. (Gemini) announced today that they have successfully
launched an online Preventative Injury Reduction (PIR) program in partnership
with 24/7 Training Solutions (24/7) to address the market demand for a
more accessible, affordable alternative to the current PIR implementations.
Dave Birkby President of Westbridge PET Containers
and a Director for the Canadian Plastics Industry Association, who implemented
the online program and passed the PIR audit with an 80% grade, stated
that, "The WCB premium refunds and internal cost savings associated with
injury reduction that we gain, provide a measurable return on our investment.
The benefits of improved employee morale and reduced injuries through
the investment in a safer work environment are immeasurable."
PIR is a voluntary incentive program that operates through the combined
efforts of WCB-Alberta, the provincial government's Human Resources and
Employment (AHR&E)-Workplace Health and Safety department and 17 industry/safety
associations. Designed to encourage injury prevention and workplace health
and safety practices, the premium incentive program is offered to all
employers in the province regardless of size or industry.
Gemini and 24/7 have removed the cost and implementation
barrier by capitalizing on the efforts of these groups, and developing
the PIR program to provide online templates and a foundation of content
that can be easily and affordably managed, delivered, and customized for
any industry or business.
"This concept has been on the drawing board for some
time", said Colin Reichle Executive Director of the Canadian Plastics
Industry Association West. "Bill
Martin of 24/7 and Gemini have saved us the time and trouble of getting
it from the drawing board to the boardroom. They have a proven solution that will assist more companies to
participate in the PIR program and ultimately fulfill our goal to reduce
injuries and WCB premium costs that have nearly doubled in the past five
years".
