eLearning "Firsts" and
in Some Cases "Only"
Adaptive Learning Environment (ALEs), Adaptive Testing,
and Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) were just a
few of the many features that Gemini implemented into our
first Technology Based-Training product, SWIFT (SoftWare
Intelligent Freeform Training), which have proven to be
highly visionary and beneficial to our customers.
- Based on an award winning design, the SWIFT ALE (now
referred to as SWIFT Adaptive Learning Environment) was the first and only
commercial release of its kind in 1995.
- We developed and implemented the first and only
adaptive testing algorithms into an ALE based on the work
and research of Frick and Welsh.
- SWIFT was the first and only application to implement
Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML), the
predecessor of HTML and XML, for content representation.
Gemini has since capitalized on the benefits of XML.
- SWIFT Author is the first and only tool to automate
content re-use by publishing test questions from a SWIFT
course to a SWIFT test or vice versa at the click of a
button.
- Gemini developed our own web server (HTTP Listener)
which provides our customers with several benefits such
as a much higher level of security, unlike other
eLearning web applications that are reliant on third
party web servers such as Microsoft's® IIS©.
